Dr. Karen Wong completed her residency at the Northport Veterans Affairs Medical Center with emphasis in Primary Eye Care, Vision Therapy, and Low Vision Rehabilitation. She is licensed to practice full scope primary eye care including management of diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma, and retinal vascular diseases as well as co-management in cataract and refractive surgery. In addition to ocular health care, she has experience with fitting specialty contact lenses for myopia control and scleral lenses.
Prior to residency, Dr. Wong completed her Bachelor of Science in Neurobiology, Physiology, and Behavior at the University of California, Davis. Thereafter, she attended the University of California, Berkeley where she earned her doctorate degree in Optometry. During her time at UC Berkeley, she volunteered with VOSH (Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity) to provide eye care in rural communities of Inner Mongolia, as well as with VSP (Vision Service Plan) to serve the Chinatown community of San Francisco.
Dr. Wong is a member of the American Optometric Association and the California Optometric Association as well as a board member of the Santa Clara County Optometric Society. In her spare time, she enjoys trying new recipes in the kitchen with her husband, taking road trips, crocheting, cycling, and spending time with friends and family.
