Dr. Debbi Fan grew up in the Bay Area and graduated from the University of California, Berkeley with a Bachelor’s degree in Molecular and Cell Biology. She received her Doctor of Optometry degree at the UC Berkeley School of Optometry with honors, Beta Sigma Kappa. Dr. Fan went on to complete a
residency program, specializing in Primary Care Optometry and Low Vision, at the Veterans Affairs Palo Alto Healthcare System. During residency, she provided care for visually impaired patients in conjunction with instructors in all disciplines of vision rehabilitation.
Since completing residency, she has stayed on as a Staff Optometrist at the VA Palo Alto Healthcare System, while also working part-time in private practice. She is licensed to practice full-scope optometry and is glaucoma-certified. Dr. Fan has traveled to Costa Rica with Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity, where she provided eye exams to communities in need of healthcare.
In her spare time, Dr. Fan enjoys running, hiking with her family, and experimenting with recipes. You can often find her running the Bay Area trails with her two dogs!
